hi everyone! thank you for your patience as i finish up a long piece of mine to share with you all, and as i navigate the waters of un/underemployment. (i’m happy to share that i have some part-time work at the moment that’s helping me get by, as well as some freelance writing.)
so, first, what did i buy in February?
item 1: a “book beau” pillow
Book Beau is a company that makes reading accessories. That might sound silly, but I’ve been reading a lot—I am finishing my 14th book of the year—and I have, at times, found my arms or hands hurting. I had long heard the suggestion to get a Book Beau pillow, but, because I’m cheap and practical, I did not get it for a couple of years. This month, though, I caved!
Here is a picture of the one I bought, I think it is very cute.
I did buy a couple of on-sale ebooks, as allowed, and I was also gifted two books, which was nice!
item total: 6/20 for the year
March is already off to a more spend-y start, so look forward to that update soon.
why was my spending low this month?
You might be thinking I just have willpower of steel, but really, I had financial “bumpers” that kept things in place. I was waiting for unemployment to kick in, I had no health insurance, and I had basically no income. This level of restriction is definitely hard to maintain long-term—but it also wasn’t really dependent on my internal motivation, which in some ways can be helpful.
I am excited to be posting more this month; thanks for being along for the ride.
